At the Core Beginning as a teenager, I knew that teaching would play a big part in whatever I ended up doing in life. My first real teaching role was during a church mission trip to Germany training other young missionaries how to speak the German language. I also have served as a Boy Scout master, private tutor, firearms instructor, and fly-fishing instructor. I earned my finance degree from the University of Utah. I have taught college level personal finance courses and hundreds of benefit seminars to Federal Employees. Teaching is at the core of my work, providing clarity as a fundamental process when working with clients – and we learn from each other.
Who I Am As a zealous outdoorsman, I look forward to any activity that gets me out in nature. I love hunting, fishing, shooting, kayaking, hiking, boating, archery, scuba diving, camping and even mushroom hunting. Weekend boat trips to Lopez Island with my wife Kristie and our four children - Kaden, Jillian, Macie and Charlie - are particularly special as we enjoy the vast beauty of the Pacific Northwest together. I love to cook for my family and enjoy summer BBQ’s and holiday meals. I love to travel and have visited all the continents except Antarctica. I have serval bucket lists of places I want to see and things I want to do. One list is the goal of catching 100 species of game fish in my lifetime. I am currently at 84.
Since I have seen so much of the world and even lived abroad, I have gained a huge appreciation for the great country we live in and the freedoms we enjoy and had to fight for and continue to have to defend. I consider myself a patriot and a constitutionalist and love learning about history, in particular American History. We value our fellowship time at church, and we are happy to call Maple Valley, WA as well as Ferndale, WA our home.
