We are pleased to announce that we have completed a merger with Multop Financial and Clarity Tax Management PS. We are excited about the opportunity to work with their team of professional Tax Specialists, Certified Public Accountants, Business Advisors, and Financial Planners. Our offices in Skagit Valley and the San Juan Islands will continue to operate in the same locations with our expanded team of professionals and support staff. We will continue to operate the business using the Hilsinger & Company trade name, but the company will be under the ownership of Clarity Tax Management PS. In addition to our existing locations, we are now affiliated with the Clarity Offices in Kent, Bellingham, and the Vancouver area. The events of the past year: COVID-19, my personal health issues, restrictions on travel and our work environment, and the challenges that everyone on the planet has faced during the pandemic, have really caused us to reflect on how to best provide stability for our clients as I move toward my retirement years. This strategic merger will allow us to improve our existing services as well as expand our services to assist our clients with their taxes, business development and financial planning needs moving into the future. Hilsinger & Company will continue to operate as a separate company with the same employees and provide the same types of services you have come to know and trust. Robert Hilsinger and Drew Geddis will continue to work with the same clients, with the added benefit of sharing staff and resources with our other offices. We believe every client will benefit from this. The combined company will be able to offer you:
  • Continued high quality service with the same experienced staff.
  • Continued high level of confidentiality as CPA offices are held to a very high standard.
  • The highest level of technology and data security with the most updated systems.
  • Stability and local presence.
  • Additional expertise and knowledge offered by a full-service accounting and financial planning firm.
Robert C Hilsinger is the Founder and Owner of Hilsinger & Company, providing Accounting, Tax and Consulting Services in the Skagit Valley and Surrounding areas since 1977, and in San Juan county since 2009 when we purchased the Hawley & Nicholson Accounting Firm. Hilsinger & Company is the oldest operating accounting firm in San Juan County, founded by Charles White in the 1970’s, and later owned by Alan Hyko before being sold to Sandra Hawley and Beth Nicholson. The Hilsinger Family settled in Skagit Valley in 1881, and my Maternal Great Grandfather can be traced to San Juan County back to 1920. As you can tell we have deep roots in the community. Matthew Bumstead is the President and founder of Clarity Capital Management and Clarity Tax Management- a full service, independent Wealth Management, Tax Service and Accounting Firm. Clarity specializes in their team approach for clients by employing financial planners, investment advisors and tax professionals who work together as a team with their clients. This approach allows everyone to see the big picture, execute their proper role and avoid most mistakes in the planning process. Clarity Capital merged with Multop Financial of Bellingham in 2019. Multop was and still is an iconic Bellingham based business with 46 years of history serving clients in Whatcom County. Matthew Bumstead was born in Renton WA to a 7 generation Washington family. Both his Mother’s and Father’s families moved to Western Washington in the early 1900’s. His mother’s family settled in the Ferndale WA area and his Father’s in Renton WA. 1947 his Grandfather purchased 43 acres on Lopez island on the shores of Lopez Sound. The family continues to maintain and some even live on the property to this day. They consider themselves island folk and spend much of their time in the islands fishing and crabbing. Matthew also owns a home in Ferndale near Sandy Point and commutes to his island property on his boat when weather permits. If you have any questions about this transition and what it will mean for you, please feel free to contact me directly. I am available to meet with you to discuss any questions you may have. Additionally, you may find more information about the firm and the new team by visiting their website at www.multop.com or www.Hilsinger.com. Andrew Geddis will remain on staff and is also available to meet with you to answer any questions you may have. If you do not want your files to be transferred to the combined firm, please let us know in writing so that we may take the appropriate steps to make sure your data and confidentiality is maintained. If we do not hear from you within 90 days, we will assume you are approving the merger and combination of the files with Multop, Hilsinger, and Clarity Tax Management. In the months coming, please look forward to the new team reaching out to introduce themselves and also a meet and greet client event in Friday Harbor. We are grateful to you for allowing us the opportunity to provide you with tax accounting and business consulting services for over 40 years. Your loyalty and friendship have enriched our lives. We consider our clients to be friends and family. We look forward to continuing to be your trusted tax and financial professionals for years to come. We are confident that our new affiliation will serve us all well. Thank you again – please feel free to reach out to me with questions and concerns. Best Regards, Robert C Hilsinger CPA Hilsinger & Company
